Debut author Olivia Mayfield presents a thrilling and sexy new serial about seductive money, deadly secrets, and fatal attractions…
The Inheritance, Part I
Maggie Willings knew that returning home for her estranged grandfather’s funeral would not be easy, but she never expected the reading of his will to be the most difficult part. The four people named in the will—Maggie, her brother Robert, her ex-boyfriend Andrew, and her grandfather’s far-too-young girlfriend Bethany—are given a challenge: find out the truth about what happened to Maggie’s younger sister Cassandra, who vanished over eight years ago, and win the entirety of the estate.
Maggie is thrown by the strange request, reluctant to drag up painful memories of her sister’s disappearance, and bothered by her lingering attraction to Andrew, who wants to team up to solve the mystery. But there are ten million dollars on the line and Maggie has no idea where to start—or who she’ll be able to trust.
4 out of 5 Stars
So this would be the first serial I have ever read. I had received an email from the publisher asking me to read it in exchange for a review, I read the synopsis and thought "HEY WHY NOT". I am soo glad I did. The Inheritance draws you in from page 1. When the reading of the will takes place and they are given the challenge to find out what happened to Cassandra in order to receive the FULL amount of his estate (approximately 10 million dollars) I think my jaw just about hit the floor. If the challenge was not enough to keep you interested we also have the mystery of Cassandras disappearance, how can we not wonder how a happy 16 year old just vanished into think air. Okay so maybe your still not interested ( I HAVE TO WONDER WHY NOT) lets get into the relationships of the 3 other than Maggie who are given this opportunity
Robert (Maggies Brother)
Drinks more then he has money for
Sketchy as all hell
Andrew (Maggies Ex Boyfriend)
broke her heart
Still affects her
wants to work with her?
HOT HOT HOT
Beth (Maggies Ex best Friend)
was having an affair with gramps
definitely hiding something
The story is told from Maggies POV she is left wondering who she can trust, if she will even be able to find out anything new on a case that has been cold for 8 long years. Dredging up memories that to some are better left forgotten. But how can she not want to find out what happened to her sister after all these years? Money isn't only her only motivator, peace of mind and helping fulfill her grandfathers last wish are. The mystery and suspense in The Inheritance are done very well, timing was excellent, and for such a short book you get a lot of information (but you don't feel overloaded). I personally can not wait to see what it is going to happen not only between the 4 characters, but what has become of the missing sister.
